I am thankful for the good people that have come into my life. I am thankful that I have a family. I’m thankful that we still have a house to live in. MY husband got a modification loan so I thankful for that. Overall, the holiday went well.

Twilight Books: I don’t think she’s a bad author!

I have never read the books but I know of people who have. I went online to Amazon.com to check out other peoples comments about the books. I have to tell you there is NOTHING wrong with easy read books. Twilight is something I’m not interested in but I hate it when people put down an author for writing something that EVERYONE can read! My sister in-law and I were talking about the books the day of Thanksgiving. She has read them but she gives the author an ‘OKAY’ but not great review. The reason why she thinks the author is not super great is that according to her the author writes ‘easy read’ books. She's not the only one that thinks that way. Some people think that the author’s writing can improve. My question is are these people authors themselves? Do they really know what their talking about? Do they leave negative comments just for the heck of it? Who really cares what they think right. Most of the books I have read throughout my life are written in the same style as Twilight. I’ve read Jane Gaskell‘s Atlan saga, The Soothsayer saga, Dean R Knootz and John Norman's The Hunters Of Gor.

Most of those books were good. I suppose they’re considered ‘easy read’ to some people. Has anyone out there ever read Death Troopers? Well, I loved the book but some of the words used in that book I had to look up. One good thing about reading books like 'Death Trooper' is that it introduced me to words that I can use in my books later. To me a book should be something that a person would enjoy reading. If the story is interesting then buy the book. From time to time, I buy other self-published books from other authors. I have a good eye and pick the best ones. None of those authors write like the author who wrote the book ‘Death Troopers’ but who cares! If I like the book I’m going to read it regardless of who the author is! For example, the personalized books that I order are probably considered ‘easy read’.

MY advice: Don’t put down an author just because that author didn’t use over the top complicated words in their books. The point in buying a book is to read. Reading is good and healthy. It won’t make you Einstein but at least you have a book that you enjoy so who cares what other people think, period.

FYI: The Twilight book series is for teens. I’m not into Vampires and that is why I never bought the books. The only book I ever bought about Vampires is a personalized romance novel called, Vampire Kisses and the only movie I somewhat like is ‘Embrace of the Vampire’, which starred Alyssa Milano. I never liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer which was popular in the late 90’s early 2000’s. I use to see it because my husband loved the show but not me.

I am sure a lot of people won't be happy with this review, but please keep in mind, nothing personal. The books were not bad. The idea is a good one. I am just not that much of a romance fan, and these books were full of the corniest, teen romance I have ever seen. Also, I am not a fan of Ms. Meyer's writing style. Just not my taste. I really wanted to like it, but was really disappointed. Please keep in mind I am 33, and I think these books were tailor-made for a 16 year old. Mary J Fountain

Exactly!!! The above quote from another reviewer echos my thoughts on this poorly written series, perfectly.

I tried to force myself through the books (thankfully I didn't buy them!); and actually succeeded in reading the first book, and maybe a quarter of the second. I couldn't stand any more than that. I hung on, as others did, in the hopes that something would develop. (It didn't) I also wasn't sure if I was just being overly critical or sensitive to the increasingly abusive relationship I was seeing so clearly in print...but after reading as much as I did, I can tell you that it's blatantly obvious that these books describe an abusive relationship to a tee.

As a strong, intelligent, and feminist (adult) woman...these books are soooo not for me; nor do I feel they should be read by any young woman-let alone those girls who are forming an identity, and an interest in relationships (i.e. the author's target audience).

These books portray a dangerous, jealous, controlling, and possessive partner as "perfect", and desirable. Bella is written as weak and pathetic; a mere shadow of a person if Edward is not there to tell her what to do or think.

It quite frankly scares the hell out of me that young girls may not be able to distinguish a healthy relationship from an abusive one due to this series.

Um, if a young girl cannot distinguish a healthy relationship from a bad one then that’s the parent’s problem.

My reply was: “If she is such a bad author then why is it that she is making millions off her books and movies. LOL”
