I have made some changes to this page. There willno longer be a fashion page on the Phoenix Flare website. This will be a craft page. I will try and post various crafty ideas and some unique craft stuff I've made. There will still be links to unique and fashionable items posted here.
Crafts:I made this purse three years ago. I took a pair of old kid's jeans from my boys and I bought a few Appliqués , velcor & a long beaded necklace. My son's old jeans were a size 8. I cut the bottom and sewed it. I took the velcor and sewed it at the waist. I cut a 20 inch strip from the leg of the jeans for the shoulder strap. You can probably make the strap longer. After I added the Appliqués, I took a cheap beaded necklace and cut at one end. I took a few of the beads out and wrapped the necklace around the waist as decoration. I knotted the end. And there you have it!
Painted Glass JarCRAFT MATERIALS:
Clean, empty jar. Acrylic or liquid tempera paints. Paintbrushes or cotton swabs. White glue. Clear glaze (available at craft stores)
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
To make the paints stick to the glass, first mix the colors with some glue. Keep the paint thick so it won't run. Use brushes or cotton swabs to paint a design on the jar. To erase a mistake, use a paper towel to wipe off the paint before it hardens. Let the paint dry, then seal the finished design with a coat of glaze.
Here's a new idea for a gift: Try giving a gift bouquet basket. You'll need:
basket
lace
silk flowers (color of your choice)
round dome shape Styrofoam 1 pc half ball (the kind you use to pin the flowers on.)
glue gun
use the glue gun to glue the lace on the edge of the basket. Then take the styro foam and peel off the sticker so you can stick it onto the bottom of the ball and basket. You'll find the Styrofoam half ball at Wal-Mart or Michaels. Use thin gift wrapping paper and place one half sheet into the basket covering the ball. make sure that the paper doesn't cover the lace on the outside. Cut the flowers the size you want them and stick them through the paper into the ball. It should look like you're making a silk flower arrangement. Take the gifts and wrap them in gift wrapping paper.(whatever color you want.) the gifts should sit perfectly in the middle. make sure that the basket isn't too small. I probably should have used a bigger basket for my mom's gifts that I placed in the basket, but I think you get the idea--more or less. A gift basket like this can be used for any occasion.
Bargain Finds:
I went to the Thrift Store in Murrieta by Toy 'R' Us and found this interesting fur doggie. I liked it and bought it. I will post more items later.
